EU Covered Up Deal With Despots

msf

Médecins Sans Frontières today announced it would no longer accept funding from Brussels in a pretty extraordinary indictment of the EU-Turkey deal. Central to the decision is a secret agreement forged by EU leaders to extend the migrant deal to Eritrea, Somalia, Sudan and Afghanistan. Der Spiegel has details:

The ambassadors of the 28 European Union member states had agreed to secrecy. “Under no circumstances” should the public learn what was said at the talks that took place on March 23rd, the European Commission warned during the meeting of the Permanent Representatives Committee… Under the heading “TOP 37: Country fiches,” the leading diplomats that day discussed a plan that the EU member states had agreed to: They would work together with dictatorships around the Horn of Africa in order to stop the refugee flows to Europe — under Germany’s leadership.

The implication is that EU leaders plotted with war criminals and murderous dictators to hand refugees back to the very leaders they were fleeing from, and then give them money for “cameras, scanners and servers” to keep them under watch. An incredible story which has had no traction in the British press yet. Remember this when they tell you Remain is the internationalist, outward-looking choice…

Mercer No Fisherman’s Friend

mercer boats

As MP for Plymouth, the city home to the UK’s second largest fresh fish market, Johnny Mercer should be a fisherman’s friend. They’re hurting following cuts to EU fishing quotas of 26% for cod, 14% for haddock, and 12% for whiting – all local catches in South Devon. So it’s no wonder a number of fishermen and women from Plymouth joined Farage’s flotilla down the Thames yesterday. What did their local Remain MP have to say to them?

Poor Johnny is having a tough time endearing himself to his constituents at the moment…

Piers Corbyn Explains Why Jezza is Wrong on Workers’ Rights

Jeremy Corbyn today tells Labour supporters in Yorkshire to vote Remain to “protect workers across Europe”. In the new film “Lexit: The Movie”, produced by Labour Leave, Jezza’s brother Piers demolishes that argument:

“The idea that the European Union is a happy-clappy haven for workers rights is complete nonsense… We do not need an unelected bureaucracy to tell us, “ok, you can have these rights”. They’re taking the power to defend these rights away from us. What’s this about? We can defend ourselves. And once you give away the power to defend yourself to someone else, you know they can stop defending you. Look at Greece. Were they defended? No.”

How Remainers Stitched Up Gove’s Elderly Father

GOVE

Michael Gove was as emotional as you will ever see on Question Time as he responded to the Guardian story about his father. Privately the Goves are genuinely furious, and say the paper “rang up an elderly man who is very hard of hearing and has serious diabetes and twisted his words”. The Guardian story is headlined “Michael Gove’s father denies his company was destroyed by EU policies”. Yet this was the actual answer 79 year-old Ernest Gove gave to the journalist’s question:

“There’s nothing really to go back about anyway because it just was, when Europe went into fishing, the industry more or less collapsed down and I just packed in and got a job with another firm, you know. That was all that was happening.”

He didn’t contradict Gove Jnr, he completely confirmed him to be telling the truth.

As the journalist repeatedly tried to get Gove Snr to contradict Michael, Ernest explicitly said: “I’m not going against my son”. The Guardian claim “Michael Gove’s office neither denied or retracted or contested accuracy of Earnest Gove quotes”. Except they provided the reporter with a statement from Ernest Gove, again rubbishing the story:

“I don’t know what this reporter is going on about. Everybody in the north-east knows it was Europe that did such damage to the fish trade. The common fisheries policy was a disaster, not just for Aberdeen, but all of Scotland. There wasn’t any future for my business. It closed as a direct result of Europe.”

For avoidance of doubt, here is Ernest Gove on camera last week giving the BBC his view:

Despite Gove Snr clearly agreeing with his son – on camera, in the phone call with the reporter and in a statement provided prior to publication – the Guardian published the incorrect headline anyway. The article was held back until shortly before Gove Jnr’s appearance on Question Time for maximum damage. Remain spinners Will Straw and lyin’ Ryan Coetzee then piled in on Twitter, knowing it to be untrue. Pretty low even by the standards of political campaigning…

Remainers Clash With England & Wales

The progressive elite in the form of the prince of darkness, Lord Mandelson himself, is coming out of the shadows to enlighten the workers of GKN this afternoon. Unfortunately Mandelson – who campaigned for Britain to join the €uro in the 1990s – knows little about Euro 2016. The GKN factory floor may be less than delighted to hear him boring on about the delights of Brussels since it means they’ll miss the England v Wales match in the Stade Bollaert-Delelis which kicks off at the same time. They are less than pleased at the prospect of missing the match and he may find his audience won’t be “Remaining” to listen to him…

Labour Leave Launch Anti-Cameron Attack Adverts

Labour Leave has launched a digital advertising campaign telling Labour voters to back Brexit to “wipe the smile off” Cameron and Osborne’s faces. Readers of left-wing websites such as LabourList are now seeing adverts appealing to them to vote Leave. Labour Leave say “a vote to Leave will surely lead to the toppling of Cameron and Osborne” and “could possibly […]

Quote of the Day

Brendan O’Neill on the coverage of Jo Cox’s murder:

“I don’t have very high expectations of the British media. But even I am shocked at the speed with which sections of it have sought to make political mileage from Jo Cox’s death. Pro-Remain journalists, swathes of the broadsheet set, are already discussing her death as a consequence of Brexit campaigning, as a foul spin-off of foul politics. They’re saying that of course Brexiteers aren’t directly responsible, but… that wretched “but”, which means “but they are responsible”. Remainers are already pointing a collective finger at the “political climate” cultivated by Brexit and suggesting it nurtured this murder. I thought they would wait, a day perhaps, before marshalling this tragedy to their cause. But no.

Politically exploiting a murder, morally blackmailing Brexiteers to tone down their campaign, and inadvertently diminishing the culpability of the killer by suggesting “the climate” bears some responsibility for what he did — I think it’s possible the British media has just reached a new low, the lowest low.”
